Based on the Welsh children characters 'Sali Mali and Jac Do' (www.salimali.tv), this project is under development to further the skills of the studio and to assess new techniques and tools being offered in up and comming releases of Autodesk Maya, sideFx Houdini, Pixelogic Zbrush & AutodeskToxik.
Developed over a period of 1 month, the characters were translated from their classic 2D form into 3D models by the thinkplay internal team. The tools used included Maya for the modeling, texturing and hair, Houdini for the layout of the feathers on 'Jac' and Mental ray and Toxik for the final composite.
